Longhorns vs. Bears Week 4: How to Watch, Betting Odds

In this story:
Another week, another potential trap game?
Before fans can say Texas is "back" for good, it still must handle business against the lesser-tier opponents. Yes, a 31-10 win over Wyoming in Week 3 looks good on paper, but the game was tied heading into the final 15 minutes.
The No. 3 Longhorns, the preseason favorite to win the Big 12 for the first time since 2009, begin their quest to Arlington with a road trip to McLane Stadium to take on Baylor. The Bears (1-2, 0-0 Big 12) have struggled early, losing back-to-back matchups against Texas State and Utah.
But why should Bears fans have a glimmer of hope? History. Since 2009, Baylor has gone 4-3 against Texas when playing at home. The Bears have outscored the Longhorns 176-175. Dave Aranda, who's two years removed from guiding Baylor to a Big 12 title, has coached in big games before and understands the pressure of defeating an in-state rival in what will be the final matchup for the foreseeable future.
The Longhorns received positive news Thursday with the expected return of freshman running back CJ Baxter. Baylor's run defense ranks 106th entering Saturday's matchup and the Longhorns have a trio of talented tailbacks that should push the ball into positive territory.
Matchups will only become more challenging in the future. The Longhorns head home to face a surging Kansas offense in Week 5, headlined by dual-threat phenom Jalon Daniels. Oklahoma looks vastly improved in Year 2 under Brent Venables. And while BYU and Kansas State might not be front-runners to win the conference, they have talent that can cause an upset.
Ask Arkansas about their Week 3 showdown against the Cougars.
No one is asking Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns to reign fire down in Waco Saturday, but consistency offensively is critical to solidify their status as College Football Playoff contenders.
