AUSTIN, Texas -- Aside from giving up one long touchdown on the game's opening possession, the Texas Longhorns' defense had done its job for most of Saturday's game against the Wyoming Cowboys at DKR.

This made it fitting when Texas defensive back Jerrin Thompson came up with what was essentially a game-sealing pick-six in the fourth quarter. With the Longhorns already leading 24-10 after back-to-back touchdowns, Thompson put the cherry on top of a strong fourth quarter by stepping in front of Evan Svoboda's short throw and taking it back 27 yards to the house.

As a result, Texas built its lead to 31-10 after entering the fourth tied at 10-10 with the Cowboys.

Take a look:

Dating back to the Alamo Bowl last season against Washington, Thompson now has an interception in three of his last four games. He had the critical interception in last week's win over Alabama that helped the Longhorns break the game open in the fourth quarter.

Thompson now has four interceptions in his Texas career. He entered Saturday with 142 career total tackles and 11 passes defended.

"I feel like, especially in the secondary, we have grown tremendously with depth," Thompson said prior to the season. " ... We just have so much depth in the secondary. The whole defense in general, we're all just locked in. We understand our assignments, and we're really getting after it and having fun out there."

Thompson has proven to be a vital piece of a talented Texas defense that now has five interceptions this season.
