Five Longhorns Selected in Seven-Round NFL.Com Mock Draft

It is set to be a strong showing in the draft for the Longhorns a year after having no one drafted in 2022.

Just one year after having no one selected in the NFL draft the Texas Longhorns are set to go the complete opposite direction in this week's draft. Rather than no one being drafted, the chances are high that a handful of Longhorns hear their name called before the draft ends.

Where they end up, though, is of course yet to be seen but it represents a step in the right direction for a Texas team looking to build a winning foundation under Steve Sarkisian.

While we don't know yet where anyone lands in the draft, the latest seven-round mock draft from NFL.com has five Longhorns drafted - with all five going in the first five rounds.

Leading the way for Texas in this mock draft is, as it has been all offseason, star running back Bijan Robinson. There's been debate on not if he'll be a first-round pick, but where in the first round he'll end up.

This mock draft sees him going top 10, with the Atlanta Falcons taking him at No. 8 overall. Running back isn't a major need for Atlanta, but the allure of adding a running back who won the Doak Walker after rushing for 1,580 yards and 18 touchdowns could see him go here.

As for his running mate, Roschon Johnson is the first of two fourth-round selections for the Longhorns. Johnson is seen by some as the most underrated running back prospect in this draft class and finds himself going to the Arizona Cardinals with pick No. 105.

Joining Johnson in the fourth round is the first of three Longhorn defenders, linebacker DeMarvion Overshown. After anchoring the Texas defense, combined with a strong pre-draft showing, Overshown has steadily risen up draft boards. His climb sees him work his way into the fourth round, with the Cleveland Browns at No. 126 overall.

The final two Longhorns selected in this mock are a pair of defensive tackles that helped stuff the run for Texas. Both Moro Ojomo and Keondre Coburn hear their names called, with Ojomo going No. 141 overall to the Las Vegas Raiders and Coburn drafted No. 146 overall to the New Orleans Saints.

These could very well be where all five of these players see themselves when the draft is over, but regardless of where they're drafted, it will be a positive step forward after Texas' showing in the 2022 draft.
