Longhorns Ex Moro Ojomo Carted Off in NFL Preseason After Scary Injury

In this story:
Former Texas Longhorns defensive lineman Moro Ojomo suited up for his second NFL preseason game on Thursday, as the Philadelphia Eagles rookie was looking to lead the defensive charge against the Cleveland Browns at Lincoln Financial Field.
But Ojomo unfortunately ended up being just one of three Eagles to be carted/stretched off on Thursday in a game that ended as an 18-18 tie. The Eagles announced that he suffered a neck injury, which forced him to be stabilized on the field before being moved out on a stretcher.
Thankfully, the team said that Ojomo has movement in all of his extremities.

“I haven’t talked to the doctors yet, but it sounds like they’re moving around,” Eagles coach Nick Sirianni said. “I don’t know anything else other than that.”
Prior to Ojomo's scary incident, Eagles receiver Tyrie Cleveland went down with a neck injury as well. The team announced he also had movement in all of his extremities.
“You never want to see (injuries)," Sirianni said. “Your heart goes out to everybody who gets hurt in a game because they’re working so hard to make the football team, so that’s tough."
The Eagles capped off their successful draft this past April by selecting Ojomo in the seventh round, adding him to a defensive line that will also feature first-round rookies Nolan Smith and Jalen Carter. Ojomo will have some stout competition on the d-line during his first year in the league, and suffering a preseason injury certainly won't help him stay on the field as he looks to secure a roster spot.
"That’s tough for the team, that’s tough for myself, that’s tough for the coaches because you care about these guys and you want to see them succeed, then to have injuries that’s tough," Sirianni said.
At 6-2 and 293 pounds, Ojomo played 41 career games at Texas, posting 6.5 sacks, 15 tackles for loss and three forced fumbles. He was the fifth and final Longhorn selected in the 2023 draft, joining running back Bijan Robinson (No. 8 to Atlanta Falcons), linebacker DeMarvion Overshown (No. 90 to Dallas Cowboys), running back Roschon Johnson (No. 115 to Chicago Bears) and defensive tackle Keondre Coburn (No. 194 to Kansas City Chiefs).
