Texas Longhorns Named One Of Biggest Week 12 Winners In College Football

In this story:
The Texas Longhorns and their head coach, Steve Sarkisian both exercised some major demons on Saturday night.
The Longhorns were able to fend off a pesky program in Iowa State and have had their number as of late, while Sarkisian was able to secure his first 10-win regular season in nine years as a head coach.
The game was played differently than the last few which saw Texas start strong and finish poorly, as the Longhorns were playing fairly decently in the first half but really found their momentum in the second half.
They ended up winning by a score of 26-16, which moved their record to 10-1 on the season, and the win also helped them be named one of college football's winners of Week 12 by CBS Sports' Shehan Jeyarajah.
He explained it was the overcoming of major humps by both the team and head coach, which both parties clearly needed.
"In nine seasons as a head coach, Texas coach Steve Sarkisian failed to ever win 10 games. His 2014 USC squad won nine, but it took a victory in the Holiday Bowl just to reach the mark. Finally, after 12 losses in two seasons at Texas, Sarkisian and the Longhorns crossed the threshold. Texas pulled away from Iowa State 26-16 in a physical game to get one step closer to clinching a spot in the Big 12 Championship Game. Running back CJ Baxter stepped in for injured star Jonathon Brooks and posted a 100-yard performance, and the defense clamped Iowa State in critical spots."
After checking this game off the list, the Longhorns now will return home to face Texas Tech for their regular season finale.
The Red Raiders were expected to be a dark horse in the Big 12, but have fallen short of that notion. However, they have won three straight games and as we all know, this game will essentially be their Super Bowl.
It very well could end up being the biggest test of the season for Texas being that the Red Raiders will give everything they have to derail this magical season for the Longhorns.
While Texas has had a couple of culture-defining games already this season, their final showdown with Texas Tech stands out as the biggest test of this new winning culture.
