Longhorns QB Room: Quinn Ewers, Arch Manning Best in College Football?

In this story:
AUSTIN -- If current projections hold up, Steve Sarkisian is going to be the head coach of the Texas Longhorns well past when his contract ends in 2030.
With that will likely come continued emphasis on building elite quarterback rooms, which shouldn't come as a surprise to Texas fans that have seen how Sarkisian, a former QB himself, has recruited that position headed into his fourth season.
Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning headline a quarterback room that's certainly the most talked-about in the country headed into next season, but where do the Longhorns stack up in QB group rankings?
According to 247 Sports' QB room rankings, the combo of Manning and Ewers along with incoming freshman Trey Owens is enough to give the Longhorns the No. 1 spot. Texas is ranked ahead of teams like Ohio State, Oregon, Ole Miss and Georgia, who all ranked 2-5, respectively.
Many fans might questions Texas' place in the top spot considering how talented Ohio State's QBs are, but the potential of Manning and the Heisman-finalist talent of Ewers is what sets the Longhorns apart.
Ewers led the Longhorns to a Big 12 title and an appearance in the final four-team College Football Playoff this past season. He missed two games due to injury, but went 272 of 394 passing for 3,479 yards, 22 touchdowns and six interceptions while adding five rushing scores.
As for Manning, he played in just two games as a freshman, but showed some positive flashes in the regular season finale against Texas Tech. In the 57-7 win, he went 2 of 5 passing for 30 yards and had a 12-yard run.

Here's what 247 had to say about Texas landing in the top spot:
"Texas lost quarterback transfers Maalik Murphy to Duke and Charles Wright to Appalachian State and still has the most star-studded room in college football at the position with Ewers returning and Manning's supernova potential behind him. ... Ewers and Manning are going to have plenty of talent around them to flex a banner campaign through the air."
The Longhorns' Orange-White Spring Game will kickoff on Saturday, April 20.
