Texas Longhorns QB Quinn Ewers Says Team Can't Forget About Loss to Oklahoma Sooners

In this story:
AUSTIN, Texas -- Texas Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers is looking at the bright side of things coming off of the Oct. 7 loss to the Oklahoma Sooners. With a ton of season left but little room for error, both Ewers and the team have no choice but to remain optimistic.
To move past the OU loss mentally, many might expect the Longhorns to flush the thought and forget it in an attempt of reaching this optimism. But for any team looking to prove itself as championship caliber, remembering the bumps and bruises from before can provide a ton.
"We don't want to hold onto how we felt after the game because it's just one game at the end of the day, but it's a big one," Ewers said. "We need to continue chipping away at our next opponents but don't totally forget about what happened."
Ewers' performance against the Sooners was similar to this approach. After a rocky start that saw him toss two early picks, he bounced back and kept Texas in the game, even when committing a second-half fumble could've fazed him.
He finished the game an efficient 31 of 37 passing for 346 yards and one touchdown, though it was the three turnovers and the loss that clouded an overall solid day for the quarterback.
Regardless of what's in the past, Ewers is staying focused on what lies ahead.
"I think we need to understand we're working towards the goal we set at the beginning of the year and we're going to continue to strive for that goal," Ewers said. "I think this team has a lot to prove still and we're all pretty fired up about the opportunity that we've been granted."
The Longhorns' next opportunity to prove themselves comes on Saturday at TDECU Stadium against the Houston Cougars.
