Texas Longhorns running back Jonathon Brooks suffered a lower body injury in the fourth quarter of Saturday's 29-26 win over the TCU Horned Frogs at Amon G. Carter Stadium.

Texas coach Steve Sarkisian said after the game that he'll have more information on Brooks' status when he does his weekly meeting with the media on Monday.

"Obviously, we're going to have to check him out more in the morning when we can get him back to Austin," Sarkisian said. "I'll probably have a better update for you guys on Monday."

After putting the Texas running game on his back for most of the night, Brooks went down in pain after being tackled at his ankles and having his foot twisted under the defender. He laid on the ground for a few moments before walking with a heavy limp back to the locker room. Texas trainers had to assist him as he tried to walk on it while the Longhorns were in the process of giving up a 20-point lead once again.

Before the injury, Brooks was adding a ton to his Doak Walker Award campaign. He finished with 21 carries for 104 yards and two touchdowns along with three catches for 74 yards.

The Longhorns could have to lean on true freshman CJ Baxter in the backfield, who started the first two games of the season. He's battled injuries himself this season, but has played well as of late. He finished Saturday's win with 18 carries for 61 yards, a week after he had 10 carries for 90 yards and a touchdown in the win over Kansas State.

The Longhorns play at Iowa State next Saturday.
