Scouting Report: What Longhorns Are Getting in 4-Star WR Freddie Dubose Jr.

Freddie Dubose Jr. will bring a dynamic playmaking ability to the Texas Longhorns program.

Earlier this spring, the Texas Longhorns received a big-time commitment from one of the top wide receivers in the class of 2024 - Freddie Dubose Jr.

A big get for the Horns, Dubose became their third wide receiver reviver commit in the class. Standing at 6’1, 170, Dubose offers both size and speed and a great all-around build for an outside wide receiver.

His big-play ability and frame will give the Rangers a huge threat to opposing defenses, hopefully helping them make a playoff push this season.

Unfortunately, during the first game of the 2022 season, Dubose tore is ACL, forcing him to miss his entire junior season.

Despite the setback, however, he was able to compete in track where he was a state qualifier in the triple jump. He also ran the 200 and competed as a runner for Schwartz Clemens 4x400 team, which won the regional championship.

After moving to Smithson Valley High School, Dubose will look to show that he is back and better than ever after the injury.

Dubose currently ranks as the No. 33 receiver overall in the 2024 class and will have plenty of upside as a Longhorn.

With the way that Steve Sarkisian has been able to incorporate pass catchers like Xavier Worthy and Devonte Smith (Alabama) into his offensive schemes and the expertise of receivers coach Chris Jackson, Longhorns fans should be eager to see what he can turn Dubose into both on and off the field.

“That coaching staff is something different,” Dubose said. “They’re real about what they say. Being able to play under Chris Jackson, with all the experience he has had before, puts me in a good position. I know that he can help me even more trying to achieve my goal of going to the league and developing me to be the best I can be on and off the field. As a man and player."
