Four Texas Longhorns Selected as CBS All-Americans

CBS Sports has named its All-American teams, and four Texas Longhorns have made the cut.

CBS Sports has named its All-American teams, and four Texas Longhorns have made the cut. Receiver Xavier Worthy and defensive lineman T'Vondre Sweat were selected to the first team while defensive lineman Byron Murphy II and tight end Ja'Tavion Sanders were named to the second team.

For the first time is Longhorn football program history, Texas has secured a slot in the College Football Playoff, led by head coach Steve Sarkisian. The Longhorns are in the No. 3 slot after claiming their first Big 12 Championship title since 2009. These four Texas stars have made incredible contributions this season that allowed the Longhorns to claim a slot in the Sugar Bowl to matchup against Washington on Jan. 1.

So far this season, Worthy has recorded a total of 73 catches for a total of 969 yards. He averages around 13.3 yards per catch and had made it into the end zone five times this.

Sweat has 42 total tackles on this year with two sacks as well. However, Sweat showcases his versatility on offense as well. During the Big 12 Conference Championship matchup, the 6-4, 362-pounder managed to sneak into the end zone to put an additional six points on the board for the Longhorns.

Murphy has claimed 26 total tackles this year (12 solo) and recorded five sacks on top of that.

Sanders has had a standout season with 39 receptions for a total of 607 yards. On top of his two touchdowns, he averages around 15.6 yards per catch.

The Big 12 conference has a total of five representatives on the All-American team, and the Longhorns have claimed two of those spots.
