Texas Viewed As One Of The 11 CFB Teams That Can Go Undefeated In 2024
The 2023 season for the Texas Longhorns was the year that many Texas fans were convinced they'd be having for pretty much every year this past decade.
Unfortunately for those hopeful fans, it never happened when they had been clamoring for it. Well, that is of course until this past season when Texas finally had consistent quarterback play paired with a defense that had some very bright moments all year. However, even with the big year, Texas still finished 12-2 and came up short of winning a title. Something that they can avenge in 2024.
In a recent Bleacher Report article, they were tabbed as one of the 11 teams in college football in 2024 that has a chance to win every game.
Bleacher Report's Brad Shepard cited the combination of returning talent like quarterback Quinn Ewers, mixed with the fact that they brought in great recruiting and portal classes, will be huge for Texas.
"Getting Quinn Ewers to return for another season was massive, and if he gets hurt, Arch Manning is the quarterback of the future and ready to step in.
"The Longhorns will have playmakers all over the offense, such as receivers Isaiah Bond, who transferred from Alabama, Matthew Golden moving over from Houston, Silas Bolden, who is coming in from Oregon State, and tight end Amari Niblack (Alabama), who should replace Ja'Tavion Sanders," wrote Shepard.
However, even with all of their returning talent, the Longhorns will need to get up for every game and get off to a hot start. Going undefeated means they are beating the defending champion Michigan Wolverines on the road in Week 2, while also beating Oklahoma and Georgia in consecutive weeks.
If Texas is in fact able to go undefeated next season, they will all surely have the best case for the No. 1 seed in the playoff. It also means that the team has finally gotten over their disease-like struggles of losing games they have no business losing.
Joining them as teams that Shepard felt could reach that undefeated mark were programs like Georgia, Penn State, Oregon, Ohio State, Notre Dame, and Florida State among others.
