In this story:

If you had to compare how things are going in Austin and in College Station, one could and likely would argue that the sun is shining on the Longhorns while the Aggies are under a personal rain cloud.

The Longhorns are currently in the midst of their best season since 2009 and are a contender for the College Football Playoff, while Texas A&M just fired their head coach. Not to mention, due to the firing of Jimbo Fisher, the Aggies have obviously seen some wavering from recruits who were not expecting the head coach to be fired.

As for Texas, they got some massive news on Sunday in the recruitment world, as four-star corner and former Florida commit Wardell Mack decided to flip. The Louisiana native now adds to Texas' impressive recruiting class that is far from finished, and also happens to be ascending up the rankings.

According to On3, the addition of Mack has boosted Texas' recruiting class all the way up to No. 7 in the country, which is one spot ahead of the Aggies who are expected to take a steep decline following Fisher's firing.

The only programs that currently rank ahead of Texas at the moment are Oregon, Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Ohio State, and Georgia.

If the Longhorns continue to have success on the field like they have been for the first time in a decade or more, recruits will gravitate to Austin even more than they already do. Also, on top of surpassing Texas A&M, the Longhorns may also have a chance to flip a couple of their commits, so buckle up!
