WATCH: Texas WR Jordan Whittington Surprised With Invite To Reese's Senior Bowl

Texas wide receiver Jordan Whittington was honored at a recent practice for his time as a Longhorn.

For the first couple of years for Texas wide receiver Jordan Whittington, his time as a Longhorn was riddled with injury.

The former five-star recruit even pondered walking away from football following his broken collarbone against Oklahoma a couple of seasons ago, but as explained to the media recently by Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian, he simply couldn't let the pass-catcher be done.

“I wouldn’t let him not play football anymore,” Sarkisian said last month. “I just know you only get this one time. You don’t get to say when I’m 40 or 50, like me, ‘I’m going to go back and play football. That was a pretty good deal. I should have done that more.’ Now’s the time. You need to maximize that.”

His hard work paid off, as he is one of Texas' most important players this season even without putting up gaudy stats like his receiver running mates. On Wednesday, while speaking to the team, Steve Sarkisian surprised Whittington in front of the whole team with the news he had been invited to the Reese's Senior Bowl.

Something that Whittington revealed was "A dream come true."

In his time as a Longhorn thus far, he has recorded 137 catches for 1,687 yards and has added five receiving touchdowns and one rushing score.

He is someone who exemplifies everything that an NFL team is looking for, as he gives 110 percent on every play regardless of whether or not he gets the ball.

He likely has more career highlight blocks and hustle plays than any receiver ever and is quite similar to running back Roschon Johnson whose efforts earned him a spot in the NFL.

As for what the Senior Bowl is, Whittington will have a chance to practice and play with the best in college football in front of NFL scouts, general managers, and executives.

It is a prime opportunity to boost his draft stock and showcase what he brings to the next level.
