Longhorns Release Ron Holland from Letter of Intent, Visit Set with G League Ignite

The Texas Longhorns officially released former five-star 2023 signee Ron Holland from his National Letter of Intent on Tuesday.

AUSTIN, Texas -- The Texas Longhorns have finally "listened" to all the clamoring from opposing fans on social media.

The program officially released former five-star 2023 signee Ron Holland from his National Letter of Intent on Tuesday, per reports from college basketball insider Jon Rothstein.

After decommiting from Texas on April 28, Holland remained bound to the team since he had already signed his NLI. He can now take visits or commit when he's ready. And though he's made it clear that the Longhorns remain in consideration despite decommiting, Holland is making the first steps toward officially signalling he's heading elsewhere.

Rothstein reported that Holland will visit with the G League Ignite in Las Vegas on Tuesday, as a path to playing professionally next season is a growing possibility for him. Holland has been rumored to choose between either the Ignite or the Arkansas Razorbacks, should he decide to go to school.

"Talking to sources from around the situation, it looks like the only school that really feels that they might have a shot to land his services is Arkansas," On3's Joe Tipton said. "It looks like Arkansas would be the front-runner if he decides to go to school."

Despite holding out hope that Holland could end up re-committing to Texas, Longhorn fans will likely need to be prepared to be let down again during an offseason that has been a whirlwind of emotion.
