Texas RB Bijan Robinson Headlines Longhorns Invited To NFL Combine

Five Texas players will be traveling to Lucas Oil Stadim later this month.

Doak Walker Award winner and Texas Longhorns running back Bijan Robinson will have a chance to boost his draft stock at the 2023 NFL Combine, but he's not the only former Longhorns making the trip to Lucas Oil Stadium.

Five former Texas players were invited to this year's combine in Indianapolis, Ind., the league announced Wednesday. Robinson, along with defensive lineman Keondre Coburn, running back Roschon Johnson, defensive lineman Moro Ojomo and linebacker DeMarvion Overshown will represent the Orange and White from February 28 through March 6.

Texas ranked third among Big 12 programs in roster invites, trailing only national champion runner-up TCU (9) and Oklahoma (7).

Robinson, a projected first-round selection and unanimous All-American, will have the chance to become the first Longhorns offensive player to be selected on Day 1 since Vince Young in 2006. In his three years on the Forty Acres, Robinson rushed for 3,410 yards and scored 41 touchdowns while averaging 6.3 yards per carry.

Overshown, a considered riser among linebackers on draft boards, totaled 96 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, and four sacks in 2022. He returned for his senior season after garnering NFL interest last offseason despite the program's struggles on the field.

According to scouts, Overshown is projected to be a mid-round pick, falling somewhere between the second and fourth round. NFL personnel members love his speed, awareness and physicality in coverage. Overshown, a top defensive back recruit from Arp (Texas), transitioned to linebacker ahead of the 2020 season.

Johnson, an All-Big 12 honorable mention selection, has been praised for his leadership during his time with the program. Initially a quarterback from Port Neches (Texas), Johnson transitioned to running back during his freshman season and immediately became a factor in short-yardage situations, third-down conversions and pass protection reps.

For his career, Johnson rushed for 2,190 yards on 392 carries and scored 26 touchdowns. He was invited to the Reese's Senior Bowl early this month in Mobile, Ala., but suffered a hand injury during the first practice. It is unclear how much work Johnson will be able to partake in during drills at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Coburn, a second-team All-Big 12 selection, played in 13 games last fall and registered 12 starters. He totaled 28 tackles, 1.5 sacks and one forced fumble. For his career, Coburn recorded 96 tackles and 14 tackles for loss in 51 games.

Ojomo, a fellow second-team All-Big 12 selection in 2022, totaled 32 tackles with 5.5 tackles for loss and three sacks. He racked up 95 total tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss and five sacks during his five seasons with the program.

The 2023 NFL Draft is scheduled to take place on April 27-29 at Union Station in Kansas City, Mo. Last season, the Longhorns did not have a single player drafted, though kicker Cameron Dicker did find a home late in the season with the Los Angeles Chargers as an undrafted free-agent.
