AUSTIN - The Texas Longhorns have agreed to terms on a deal to make Rodney Terry the next men's basketball coach, according to multiple reports.

The news comes just hours after a report from insider Jon Rothstein indicated that Terry and the Horns were finalizing a deal.

That deal, which has now been agreed upon, will keep Terry in Austin through the 2028 season and will pay him approximately $3 million per year.

A press conference is expected to take place to announce the hiring this week.

Terry, who is coming off of a magical run as the interim head coach with the Longhorns, had his season come to an abrupt end after falling 88-81 to the Miami Hurricanes on Sunday night in the Elite Eight.

Still, what Terry accomplished during his time at the helm, cannot be ignored.

Since taking over as the acting head coach in the wake of the suspension and subsequent firing of Chris Beard, Terry led the Longhorns on a surprise run, finishing 22-7, and narrowly missing out on a share of the Big 12 regular season title.

Terry then followed that up with a Big 12 Tournament championship win over Kansas, and a magical run through March Madness as a No. 2 seed, taking the Horns to their first Elite Eight since the 2007-2008 season under Rick Barnes.

And with Terry now set to take over the reins of the program, Longhorns fans can rest easy knowing that they will not have to deal with a long an exhaustive search for their next head coach.
