Texas Ex Lil'Jordan Humphrey Re-Signing With Broncos

Former Texas Longhorns receiver Lil'Jordan Humphrey is Re-Signing With the Denver Broncos

The Denver Broncos made waves before free agency, led by head coach Sean Payton's decision to part ways with quarterback Russell Wilson despite an $85 million dead cap hit.

However, former Texas Longhorns receiver Lil'Jordan Humphrey will be staying in the Mile High City for just a bit longer on a one-year deal, according to reports.

During his time at Texas, he played as a wide receiver for three years, totaling 36 games with 18 starts. In the 2019 NFL Draft, he declared his eligibility and concluded his college career with 125 catches, 1,622 yards, and 10 touchdowns. He earned honorable mention All-Big 12 in 2017 and 2018.

Undrafted in 2019, Humphrey began his NFL journey with the Saints under Sean Payton's leadership. After a brief stint with the Patriots in 2022, appearing in six games, he reunited with Payton in Denver last offseason.

Last season, Humphrey joined the Broncos alongside numerous former Saints under Sean Payton's leadership, emerging as a significant contributor to the offense.

Playing in all 17 games with 8 starts, a career high, he totaled 13 receptions for 162 yards and 3 touchdowns. Notably, he showcased his big-play potential with a 54-yard catch-and-run touchdown against the Chargers late in the season.

Beyond his receiving skills, Humphrey proved to be the Broncos' top run blocker among receivers, a crucial aspect in Sean Payton's offensive scheme.

Additionally, Humphrey serves as valuable insurance in case of injuries, particularly for Tim Patrick. With his versatility and depth, it's likely that Humphrey will maintain a role with the Broncos in the upcoming season.
