If you were wondering how elite of a prospect 2025 Texas Longhorns quarterback commit KJ Lacey is, just take a look at his offer sheet.

Outside of the Longhorns, Lacey has offers from Miami, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Oregon, Texas A&M, Tennessee, Auburn, Florida State, and many more.

But perhaps the biggest threat to the Longhorns holding on to their prized commit is none other than Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide, who according to Lacey, are still putting on the full-court press for his signature.

“They’re not gonna stop recruiting me," Lacey told On3. "(Saban) is still going 100 percent in on me and they’re not slowing down at all.”

And it's easy to see why. In 15 games in 2022 at Saraland High School, Lacey completed 63.7 percent of his passes for 3,177 yards and 40 touchdowns to go against five interceptions. He flashed an ability to run with four scores on the ground last season, but as the numbers show, he was a throw-first gunslinger.

In fact, Lacey has been so dominant, that he has been compared to former Alabama Heisman Trophy winner, Bryce Young.

"I get a lot of comparisons to Bryce Young," Lacey said. "I'm eyes downfield. If I'm rolling out, see somebody downfield, I'm going to hit it before I take off running. But, if I have to run, I'll take any good yards. Really good leader leading my team. Winner. I hate losing."

So far, Lacey seems firm in his commitment to the Horns. But, there is still a year and a half for Saban to make up ground.

Something that Steve Sarkisian is surely aware of, and preparing to combat.
