OFFICIAL: Texas Signs Four-Star EDGE Zina Umeozulu

The Longhorns have two of the best pass rushers in the country in their 2024 class

Texas' recruiting class made another huge addition on the defensive side of the ball on Wednesday.

On top of already having five-star EDGE Colin Simmons as their headliner, they were able to bring in another elite pass rusher from the state of Texas.

Four-star EDGE Zina Umeozulu signed with Texas on Wednesday, giving the Horns their second big-time pass rusher of the class

Zina Umeozulu

Umeozulu chose the Longhorns over their two biggest rivals, as both Oklahoma and Texas A&M were among his finalists. The Allen (TX) product held 30 offers, ranking as the 230 player in the country, No. 17 EDGE, and the No. 41 player in the state of Texas. His brother Neto is an offensive lineman at Texas as well, which likely played a major role in his recruitment.

As the Longhorns continue to build their 2024 class it has become abundantly clear they are doing so with the mindset of needing to bolster their defensive line.

Including Umeozulu, the Texas class has five commitments from across the defensive line. A move and strategy by Steve Sarkisian and Bo Davis that is influenced by the fact that in 2024 the Longhorns will be playing in the SEC.
