Texas head coach Tom Herman had hoped a second cornerback would step up and take a stranglehold on the starting job opposite Jalen Green, but so far this year that hasn't happened.

In an attempt to raise the bar at the position Herman and Todd Orlando may move nickel Josh Thompson to the outside to compete with Kobe Boyce, Anthony Cook and D’Shawn Jamison all of which could see time at the spot on Saturday against Oklahoma State.

The continued emergence of Brandon Jones and Chris Brown makes it easier for the Longhorns to move Thompson to the outside. Both should see time at the nickel and lightning spots as Texas deals with injuries to B.J. Foster and DeMarvion Overshown, both of which have been ruled out for the game against the Cowboys.
