Texas football is 1-0 in conference play after a holding on to defeat Oklahoma State on Saturday at Darrell K. Royal Memorial Stadium in Austin.

The Longhorns asserted themselves on both sides of the ball, holding off a spirited effort from Oklahoma State freshman quarterback Spencer Sanders with just enough stops on defense and great play from their own quarterback in Sam Ehlinger.

It was Texas' first win over Oklahoma State in four years and the Longhorns' first home victory in the series since 2008.

With the win, Tom Herman has defeated every team in the Big 12 at least one time since arriving on the Forty Acres in 2017.

Keaontay Ingram set a new career high for rushing yards in the game with 114. Devin Duvernay continued to develop his relationship with quarterback Sam Ehlinger by catching 12 passes for 108 yards and a touchdown.

Ehlinger has already thrown for 1,237 yards and 15 touchdowns through three games so far this year. He is on record to obliterate the numbers he put up last season when he finished with 3,292 yards and 25 scoring tosses.

Texas is on a bye this week, but won't be basking in the glow of the conference win for long as the Longhorns must find replacements for secondary standouts Jalen Green and Caden Sterns, both of which suffered injuries against the Cowboys. Josh Thompson is also out and expected to miss the rest of the regular season.

Luckily for Texas it is close to getting both B.J. Foster and DeMarvion Overshown back from injuries suffered earlier this season.
