UCLA Softball: Star Pitcher Named Student-Athlete of the Week

UCLA Bruins sophomore pitcher Taylor Tinsley was named the UCLA Student-Athlete of the Week and the Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week after a terrific weekend at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic in Cathedral City, Calif.
It's her first honor for both awards.
Tinsley allowed just two earned runs in three complete-game efforts (22.0 IP) in three wins for the No. 19 Bruins.

Among the pitchers of the 30 teams at the tournament, Tinsley ranked first in innings pitched (22.0), tied for first in strikeouts (30), second in ERA (0.64), opponent average (.242), earned runs allowed (2) and runs allowed (7).

The weekend was highlighted by a 6-2 win over No. Tennessee on Sunday to cap off a 3-2 weekend. Tinsley had nine strikeouts in the upset.

UCLA carries a 7-5 record into the Judi Garman Classic in Fullerton, Calif., this weekend with games against Michigan, Florida, Weber State, DePaul, and San Jose State.
It's the last weekend before conference play begins which will be UCLA's last in the Pac-12.
