Please welcome, your National Champion UConn Huskies! A phrase usually reserved for the school’s basketball squads, has now become a rallying mantra under new head coach Jim L. Mora. While most outside observers may scoff at such a notion, the former NFL and UCLA headman has instilled an unprecedented belief into the Huskies fanbase.

Speaking recently on the Great Dane Nation podcast, hosted by Pro Football Hall of Fame kicker Morten Anderson, who played for Mora during his time with the Atlanta Falcons, Mora was taken to task by his assessment that the UConn football program can climb to such a prestigious status comparable to the men’s and women’s basketball teams.

“We’re on the map but I think there's hope here,” Mora explained. “I love coaching college football and I took a few years to see my kids grow up. I spent a lot of time out here in Connecticut for ESPN and I know it was a national brand. I think there is a lot of support in this state and through the Athletic Department.”

“There’s only one place to go and that's up, and we certainly have to do a great job in recruiting,” as Mora shed light into his well-accomplished career. “I told the players that I’ve been lucky enough to coach 29 members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and it really comes down to their attitude and work ethic moving forward”

With Mora believing in the university and so much support behind him, it makes sense as to why they will be a program to watch in the future.
