UConn Football: Plenty of Optimism Entering A Happy New Year

The past month and a half of UConn football has been a cyclone of positivity, starting with the hiring of new head coach Jim L. Mora and staff. That domino has trickled down into a rejuvenated recruiting class, national notoriety and excitement amongst season ticket holders, including many new ones such as Connecticut politician and social media star Marc D’Amelio.

More enthusiasm surrounded the Huskies football program this past week with another decorated assistant coach being added to the staff. Coach Mora announced Kenny McClendon as the team’s new defensive line coach. He previously coached at Youngstown State, where he served in the same capacity. Coach McClendon owns a wealth of experience, having worked under Matt Campbell at Iowa State (2017) and cutting his teeth in the coaching world at his alma mater Central Michigan as a graduate assistant (2016), where he played 47 games on the defensive line.
