Update: The UConn football team received National Letters of Intent from 12 future Huskies, as announced by head coach Jim Mora on Wednesday morning. The 12 players hail from eight different states and Canada, and additional signees are expected to be announced before the end of the early signing period.

High School: Finished his high school career playing for head coach Patrick Nixon at Mergenthaler Tech High School in Baltimore Maryland. During his senior campaign played both defensive back and wide receiver helping lead Mergenthaler to a 13-1 overall record and a state championship. In the championship game Hicks led the way on defense with 10 tackles and four interceptions … Selected as a team captain during his senior year. 

Personal: Father Kalish Hicks and mother Tanieka Hicks … Also lettered one year in track.

Elijah Warner, Quarterback, Phoenix, Arizona Age-18, 6-0, 195 

A three-star recruit out of Brophy College Prep. 10.25-inch hands.

Bo Estes, Tight End, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Northeast Oklahoma A&M, Jenks High School, 6-3, 235 

NEO All-Conference TE. Soft hands. Talented receiver. 

Before UConn: Finished his high school career playing for head coach Keith Riggs at Jenks High School … Selected as a team captain during his senior year … Also earned All-District and Second Team All-State honors as a senior … Following high school Estes went on to play for Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College where he was named an All-Conference Tight End.

Personal: Father Scott Estes and Mother Aurora Estes … Lettered two years in basketball and two years in baseball … A President’s Honor Roll selection during his sophomore, junior and senior years.

Long, strong and experienced defensive back. 

Justin Joly, TE, New Rochelle, NY, Iona Prep High School, Age-22, 6-4, 215 

Great size and speed. ATH First team all-country. Captain. Leadership tested. 

High School: Finished his high school career playing for head coach Joe Spagnolo at Iona Prep High School in New Rochelle, New York. In his senior year, Joly helped lead Iona prep to an 11-1 overall record which included a 7-0 conference record. In his three-year varsity career, Joly finished with 123 catches for 1,827 yards and 22 total touchdowns.

Personal: Last name is pronounced JOE-lee … Father Robby Joly and mother Jennifer Joly.

Jake Guidone, OL/TE, 6-4, 300 

1st team All-Ivy. All-New England. 2X Ivy champ. Body mover.

Venson Sneed, DL, Winter Park, FL, Winter Park HS, 6-4, 244

Arrived on 12/8 for official visit through 12/10. Considered a potential top-500, three-star recruit. An alpha-type player who holds others accountable; tremendous leader and high motor athlete. Possesses the size and speed to play either defensive end spot. Had 28 tackles, including 10 tackles for a loss (three sacks) in eight games for Winter Park High School in 2021. Previously committed to Tennessee on 4/15/21; decommitted on 11/19/21. Also took a visit with Indiana in December.

Brady Wayburn, Offensive Tackle, Windsor, CT, Loomis Chaffee, 6-6, 290

Verbal commitment on 12/5. Considered a three-star prospect by recruiting services. Has played offensive tackle, guard, defensive tackle, track and field. From Gastonia, NC. Recruited by Mike Moyseenko. Had offers from Tulane, FAU, Kent State, Charlotte, UMass, Brown, Columbia, Dartmouth, Penn, Yale.

High School: Originally from Gastonia North Carolina, finished his high school career playing for head coach Jeff Moore at Loomis Chaffee School in Windsor Connecticut. Awarded All-Founders League First Team and honorable mention All-NEPSAC. Selected as a team captain. Was a key part of the offensive unit that led Loomis Chaffee to a 9-1 record.

Personal: Father Bryan Wayburn and mother Cathy Wayburn … Also lettered four years in track & field.
