BURLINGTON, Vermont – The University of Connecticut women's hockey team fell to Vermont 6-2 Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Huskies fall to 15-5-2 overall and 9-4-2 in conference play on the season.

The first period began with Vermont instantly jumping on the attack and pressuring the UConn defense. Vermont would fire shots at freshman goaltender Megan Warrener who would save each attempt. Vermont's best chances to get on the board first came early in the first period when two shot attempts would ring off the post and deflect wide. An interference penalty would put UConn on the power play where graduate student Summer-Rae Dobson would deflect a shot by graduate Student Morgan Wabick into the goal to give UConn the 1-0 lead. Vermont would eventually tie the game up late in the first as both teams would head to the locker room tied at one.

The Catamounts would continue to build off the momentum gained in the first period as the would continue to pressure the Huskies defense. Vermont would eventually break the tie and then follow that up with another goal to take a 3-1 lead midway through the second period. With under a minute left, graduate student Taylor Wabick would intercept a clearing attempt by the Catamount's and send it across ice to her sister and fellow graduate student Morgan Wabick who would score to cut the lead to one. The period would end with UConn down one goal and being outshot 22-12 through two periods.

The third period would be all Vermont as they would score 3 goals including two empty net goals to make it a 6-2 game. With the loss UConn splits the weekend series but takes the season series with Vermont. UConn falls to 15-5-2 overall and 9-4-2 in conference play with the loss.
