More Details Emerge on UNC Basketball Commits' Signing Plans

UNC basketball should have three 2024 signees by midday Saturday.

According to a post from Rivals' David Sisk on Tuesday evening, all three 2024 UNC basketball pledges plan to sign their national letter of intent this week, within the first four days of the eight-day early signing period.

Four-star center James Brown, a 6-foot-9, 210-pounder who sits at No. 91 overall on the 247Sports 2024 Ranking, will be the first to do so as part of a ceremony at Link Academy (Mo.) at noon ET Wednesday.

He committed to UNC basketball head coach Hubert Davis and his cohorts in early January.

At 11 a.m. ET Thursday, five-star forward Drake Powell, who ranks No. 4 overall in the class in the eyes of 247Sports, will follow suit at his Northwood High School (N.C.), only about 15 miles from the Dean E. Smith Center. The 6-foot-6, 195-pound explosive athlete is UNC's highest-ranked 2024 prize after rising 70-plus spots since his commitment in September 2022.

Then at 10:30 a.m. ET Saturday, five-star guard Ian Jackson, a 6-foot-5, 185-pound scoring machine who boasts a No. 10 overall ranking among the nation's high school seniors, will sign his NLI.

Those three signatures will likely complete the Tar Heels' recruiting efforts on the 2024 trail.

The class ranks No. 4 in the country, per 247Sports, but may drop a few more spots (it was No. 1 from the time of Jackson's commitment in mid-January until late September) before it's all said and done, as over a dozen top-100 prospects have yet to announce their decisions.

No undecided 2024 recruits hold UNC offers.
