Timmy Lawson, now a 2024 UNC football signee as of inking his national letter of intent on Wednesday, committed to the Tar Heels in early June. The Bishop Verot High School (Fla.) tight end, who doubles as a pitcher and first baseman for his school's baseball team, chose UNC over rival Duke and others.

Lawson, a 6-foot-5, 230-pound three-star, ranks No. 937 overall and No. 48 among tight ends on the 247Sports 2024 Composite.

The Tar Heels welcomed him to the family via the following personalized hype video and mixtape of his prep highlights:

Here is 247Sports' most recent scouting report on Timmy Lawson:

"Lawson is a receiving tight end, who lined up wide like a receiver and attached to the line in high school — so he's comfortable releasing from different spots. But, [he] is also a capable blocker who has shown an ability to square up defenders in a variety of scenarios.

"He appears at his best running intermediate routes across the middle where he'll haul in passes without breaking stride and, unlike some receivers, isn't at a size disadvantage against back-seven defenders."

UNC football head coach Mack Brown's 2024 recruiting haul sits at 27 names, marking his deepest collection since his return to Chapel Hill five years ago.
