In early April, following a visit to Chapel Hill, Franklin Road Academy (Tenn.) offensive lineman Luke Masterson pledged his allegiance to the UNC football staff over fellow finalists Duke, Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt, and Wake Forest.

And on Wednesday, the first day of the early signing period on the 2024 trail, the powerful three-star prospect inked his national letter of intent.

He sits at No. 974 overall, No. 72 among offensive tackles, and No. 34 in Tennessee on the 247Sports 2024 Composite.

The Tar Heels welcomed Luke Masterson, one of three 2024 Tar Heel recruiting prizes from Tennessee, to the class via the post below. It includes a hype video and mixtape of some of his eye-popping blocks:

Here is 247Sports recruiting analyst Don Callahan's assessment of Masterson's abilities:

"At 6-foot-6 and 275 pounds, Masterson is an athletic offensive tackle who has experience bookending both sides of the line in high school. When he pulls or works to the second level, he bolts to his target and converts his speed to power to often deliver a de-cleating initial blow.

"In general, he looks to bury defenders with his explosiveness and pad level."

UNC football boasts a 27-deep 2024 recruiting haul that ranks No. 26 in the country and No. 4 among ACC programs.
