USC Women's Basketball: Tearful JuJu Watkins Struggled To Finish Presser After UConn Defeat

Following the USC Trojans women's basketball teams' bitter defeat to the UConn Huskies in the Elite Eight, star guard JuJu Watkins struggled to finish her press conference. After a stellar season, Watkins was overcome with emotion, knowing that the long journey was over for this year.

She spoke about the entire year and what it all meant to her in his first season with the Trojans.

“Everything and more,” Watkins said of whether the season lived up to her hopes. “Of course, we fell short in the end. But like Lindsay said, it’s been a great ride. I have the best teammates in the world. Just glad that …”

Watkins took college basketball by storm, dropping highlight after highlight each time out. In 34 games with USC, Watkins averaged 27.1 points, 7.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game. She helped the Trojans become relevant around the sport, turning them into one of the best teams in the country.

USC earned a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament after winning the Pac-12 Tournament, giving them an advantage early on in the big dance. However, they fell short of their goal against the Huskies, but Watkins knows there is more in store for herself and this team.

The Trojans will enter next season looking to get back to where they were, but this time finish the job. With Watkins on the roster, USC will be viewed as a true title contender. They will be playing in the Big Ten next season, but Watkins has shown the ability to bring this team to new heights.
