USC Football: Caleb Williams Lashes Out Against Predraft Criticism

USC superstar quarterback Caleb Williams has had enough of the criticism that has come his way. In a recent appearance by former Alabama quarterback and current college football analyst for ESPN, Geg McElroy, the former college football star expressed concern about Williams before the draft, calling his "sense of entitlement" on Kevin Clark's This is Football podcast.

Williams wasted no time defending himself on social media once the clip went viral and backed himself on the case.  Here's what Willaims responded with via his own personal X account.

McElroy stated Williams has never experienced "adversity" in his college career. Williams immediately listed the adversity he overcame in three years of college.

It was never easy for Williams. In fact, if former Oklahoma quarterback Spencer Rattler had panned out like many expected him to, we probably would not have known who Caleb Williams is. Although Willaims was the top quarterback in his high school class in 2021, he still sat behind the then-Heisman favorite and eventually got his shot in the Red River Rivalry game after Rattler's disappointing performance.

In the second explanation Williams introduced, he is referring to the 2022 Pac-12 title game against Utah. In the first quarter of that game, he popped his hamstring after USC's dominant start. That injury hindered his play tremendously, and the Utes ended up winning that game running away to secure the conference championship.

His last example from last season is self-explanatory. The Trojans lost five of their last six games to close out the season. Nothing was going right for Williams and the Trojans, but he still put up some fantastic numbers. All in all, Willaims has experienced some adversity in his college career that will prepare him for the pro game.

Maybe McElroy didn't pay close attention to Williams' career at Oklahoma and USC.
