USC Football: Expert Predicts Trojans Will Secure Elite Edge Prospect

In this story:
Jaylen Harvey is a 6'3", 250-pound defensive lineman who's currently being recruited by some of the top programs in the country. He took official visits to Maryland, Penn State, and Florida this past June.
Harvey took his official visit to USC on June 16th and this was the visit that seemed to leave a lasting impression on the talented pass rusher out of Maryland. Now, On3's Scott Schrader is predicting that USC is going to be the name that Harvey calls out next Monday when he commits.
Why do so many programs want Harvey? To put it simply, he's a versatile game wrecker. He lined up all over the defensive line during his junior season and was successful in each alignment. While USC's defense is currently tied for 5th in the country in sacks, the popular narrative in both the media and fandom is that the Trojan defense has been underperforming. A big recruit like Harvey could help solidify their future defense under Alex Grinch, USC's defensive coordinator.

As you can see, the kid is flat out big. Size isn't everything, but when you look at some of USC's current edge defenders and compare them with those that programs like Alabama, Georgia, and Texas have, the size difference is clear. If USC expects to compete for a national championship, they would do well to attract these types of big-body defensive lineman that can withstand offensive lines that are riddled with blue chip talent across the board, not unlike those at the aforementioned schools.
AllTrojans.com will be following Harvey's decision on October 16th and provide a full scouting report upon his potential commitment to your Trojans.
