USC Football: Trojan Point Guard-Turned-NBA Pro Celebrates Dominant Win

In this story:
Watching on from the stands to support the USC football team, one former Trojan guard cheered on his former university as they dominated on the field to stay undefeated in 2023.
In the crowd for the fireworks show provided by Caleb Williams and the rest of the Men of Troy, current Minnesota Timberwolves point guard Jordan McLaughlin expressed his excitement for the victory on Twitter:

McLaughlin played four seasons with the Trojans as a starter in the backcourt from 2014-2018.
In his time with the school, the point guard averaged almost 13 points per game, nearly six assists and close to two steals per contest in over 125 games for the Men of Troy.
Though he went undrafted in the 2018 draft, McLaughlin found his way through the Nets' G-League system for the 2018-19 season before being waived.
Fortunately for the young guard, the Timberwolves called him up to their own G-League team where McLaughlin impressed enough to earn a two-way contract to the NBA roster.
In his stint with Minnesota, the former Trojan's play earned him a standard NBA contract where he's been a valuable reserve to a great Timberwolves roster.
Led by Team USA top scorer in Anthony Edwards and former no. 1 overall pick Karl Anthony Towns, McLaughlin has slotted in as a great backup point guard for playoff teams in the past two seasons.
Logging about 17 minutes per game in the past four seasons, McLaughlin's averaged about five points and four dishes per season with around one steal on the defensive side in such limited play.
It's been a successful journey for the long time Trojan as his NBA dreams have been realized in a significant role for a playoff team.
In his off time though, he's still a Trojan at heart, cheering on Caleb Williams and the rest of the USC squad.

Caleb is a recent graduate of Cal Poly Pomona with his B.S in Communications through Multimedia Journalism. Always having a deep love of sports, sportswriting has always been a passion of his.
