As head coach Lincoln Riley continues as the leader for the USC Trojans, the recruiting classes should only improve. His ability to land talented prospects is one of the strongest in the country, and the Trojans have already seen benefits from that.

But with the team moving to the Big-10 conference next season, things are going to get even brighter for the Trojans. They now will be able to sell potential prospects on the opportunity to play in some of the biggest games that college football has to offer, all while still calling Southern California their home.

It’s going to be a hell of a recruiting tactic, and Riley should be able to work his magic. But he isn’t forgetting about the hometown kids that USC recruits.

Four-star pass rusher Nasir Wyatt of Mater Dei is on the radar of USC, and he plans to take a trip to the school soon. He wouldn’t join the Trojans until 2025 if he were to sign, but this is a great first step for the program.

“We have a bye week coming, so I think that’s when I’m going up there for a game,“ said Wyatt.

Landing homegrown talent like Wyatt has been the bread and butter of the Trojans forever. Riley understands this and has continued to look inward for more talent.

“Wyatt has another two years before he signs a letter of intent, but this year will be crucial for USC to create inroads at Mater Dei.”

Per Gerard Martinez of 247sports.com

Wyatt would be a big piece to the puzzle for the USC defense if they were able to land him.

“(USC) has the hometown connections with Mater Dei,” said Wyatt. “With Lincoln Riley there, he tells me he wants to do the same things with me as he did with Raleek Brown, but on defense."

Selling USC to potential prospects is the easy part of the job. But getting them to fully buy-in can be a challenge. However, having Riley leading the way is a big thing for these prospects, so the Trojans are in good shape going forward.
