USC Football: Caleb Williams Heads to Mediocre NFL Franchise in Latest CBS Mock Draft

Will Caleb be the number one pick in the upcoming NFL Draft?

UASC superstar quarterback and Heisman trophy winner Caleb Williams is set to take the NFL by storm. Williams declared for the NFL Draft last month, and many view the 22-year-old as the number one pick.

Although there are some pundits and experts who think he shouldn't be the number one pick, CBS sport's latest mock draft is going with the popular opinion. Josh Edwards of CBS Sports has the Chicago Bears choosing Caleb Williams as the number one pick in April's draft.

I believe Chicago has known that it was going to draft a quarterback when it made the offensive coordinator change. I still believe that today. Caleb Williams is the best of the bunch in my opinion.

Josh Edwards, CBS Sports

This year's draft is stacked with a ton of excellent quarterback talent, but none may be on Williams' level. Although his team didn't have the best of 2023 seasons, he was still his Heisman self. Williams had 266 completions, completing 68.6% of his passes for 3633 yards, 30 touchdowns, five interceptions, and a rating of 170.2.

2023 may have left a sting in many people's eyes, but those who watched USC know it was not his fault. The defense was atrocious. William still led the offense to points and went toe-to-toe with the best teams in the country.

Many may agree Williams is the number one pick, but it's not a sure thing the Bears will draft the 2022 Heisman winner. The Bears have a big decision to make on whether they'll take a rookie quarterback or ride it out with Justin Fields.

It's the talk of the off-season. This decision may dwindle until draft day. The Bears have a tough decision ahead of them. Williams could be a Bear, or he could head to a situation best suited for him.
