USC is used to making headlines these days.

Whether it be their departure from the Pac-12, their shocking acquisition of former Oklahoma head coach Lincoln Riley or their many star transfers — including Heisman-winning quarterback Caleb Williams — USC has reestablished itself in the world of college football after several years of borderline irrelevancy.

The Trojans made another splash in the offseason, hiring former Arizona Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury as a senior offensive analyst.

Kingsbury, who was briefly teammates with Riley at Texas Tech, was fired after four seasons with the Cardinals. As a former college quarterback himself, his presence allows Riley to focus on other parts of the team after being incredibly involved with the offensive playcalling last season.

"He's around us a lot more," Williams said. "Lincoln Riley, he's a head coach, so he has to do head coach things. With Kliff coming in that position and filling in, it's been great because he's been in many different positions, whether it's offensive coordinator in college or head coach in college, or head coach in pros and things like that. So he's able to give a bunch of different ideas. Things that worked in the pros, things that worked in college."

Working closely with Patrick Mahomes in college and Kyler Murray in the NFL, Kingsbury has been around plenty of talented quarterbacks. Williams, who has drawn comparisons to the two-time MVP in Mahomes, is the next great player Kingsbury will be able to influence.

"He's a great coach to have in the QB room because he's seen it done on the highest level," Williams said. "He's seen it done on our level, how many different players that you see now that whether they went first pick, that won a Heisman or, you know, they got Patrick Mahomes. He's been with a bunch of different guys like that, and Kyler [Murray] when he was in the pros and things like that. Just a good relationship coach, and he gives you the real and we'll talk and have good conversations, whether it's [about] now or down the line a couple years from now the way things work out. He's been great. It's awesome to have him."
