USC Football: Commitment Date Set for Elite 2024 NFL Legacy DE Recruit

Will USC bring home another elite edge rusher for the second recruiting cycle in a row?

The date is set and the stage, of all places, is at a resort near a tiki hut. Suiting, for the 6-foot-4, 205-pound defensive end and Florida native Amaree Williams. A product of The Benjamin School (North Palm Beach, FL), should Williams commit to USC, he'll become the second elite edge prospect in as many years to commit to USC, following in the footsteps of Elijah Newby

On3 is predicting he'll stay in-state and commit to Florida State. 247 Sports' Andrew Irvins said that Williams is "Quick to close gaps and has flashed the ability to dip and bend when asked to attack the corner, although he will need to learn the true art of hand-to-hand combat if he's going to be deployed as a full-time edge player on Saturdays".

Worth noting is that Williams, just weeks after his junior season, reclassified from the class of 2025 to the 2024 class. This provides clarity on how such a good prospect isn't yet committed with national signing day almost here.

So does USC have a shot at landing the son of former Minnesota Vikings running back Moe Williams? According to his Twitter, Williams took unofficial visits to Florida State, Texas, and Florida in the fall, capped off by an unofficial to USC in November. But crucially, his last visit (and official visit) was back up to Tallahassee.

Williams announces his decision this satirday at 1pm Eastern Standard. All signs point to him being a Seminole, but crazier things have happened in the world of college football recruiting. With FSU defensive end Jared Verse turning into one of the top prospects in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft, how could you blame him?
