USC Football: DB Weighs In On Miller Moss' 6-TD Holiday Bowl Performance

Is he the answer at QB?

The Trojans' 42-28 Holiday Bowl victory was highlighted by an unbelievable 6-touchdown performance by QB Miller Moss in his first career start.

The Southern California native completed 70% of his passes en route to putting up 372 yards and tying the Pac-12 record for passing touchdowns in a bowl game.

Defensive back Bryson Shaw had some great things to say about Moss after the game (per Thuc Nhi Nguyen of the LA Times)

“He’s a cool, calm, collected guy,” Shaw said. “He’s a killer, man, and he’s got ice cold veins.”

Shaw's description of Moss is exactly what the Trojans should be looking for in their quarterback as they head into a highly competitive Big Ten next season. With matchups against teams like Michigan and Penn State that pose stout defenses and pass rushes, a quarterback that's comfortable under duress and can make plays out of very little.

USC also secured Kansas State QB Will Howard in the portal, leading to what many expect to be a solid quarterback competition ahead of next season.

For Moss, he's in the driver's seat relative to Howard given his multiple years of exposure to Lincoln Riley's system, along with having this terrific performance under his belt.

We'll see what ends up happening, but as Riley explained himself, it's possible that Moss may have scared off some potential transfers, simplifying the QB race in Southern California.
