USC Football: Former Super Bowl Winning TE Believes This NFC Team Could Be 'In Play' For Caleb Williams

An interesting QB situation over there.

Though they just made the postseason with a great record last season, one NFC preseason contender has struggled out of the gate for 2023, causing questions about their near future.

Rob Gronkowski, former champion and now an analyst for Fox Sports, suggested that the slow start for the Minnesota Vikings could finally end the year-to-year saga between the team and Kirk Cousins, possibly paving the way for them to draft Heisman winner and USC star QB Caleb Williams.

Currently sitting at 0-2 and not in a position to contend, last season's NFC North champions are not off to a good start here in 2022.

With swirling rumors about Justin Jefferson's frustrations on the team without a new contract, one of, if not the best, wide receivers in football could grow restless in very short order.

Dropping two easily winnable games had the team not suffered from turnover issues. Cousins' great but not elite play has only gotten the Vikings one playoff victory in his many years with the franchise already.

Beating the Saints in their swan songs with Drew Brees and Sean Payton in 2019, Cousins and the team ran into the eventual NFC champs for that season in the San Francisco 49ers.

Even with a 13-4 record thanks to an undefeated streak in one-score games, the team with a negative point differential lost to the Giants last January to lose another important game at home.

With the game on the line, Cousins checked it down well before the sticks and saw his season end with a three-yard gain to tight end TJ Hockenson when he needed eight to keep his season alive.

Given their issues surrounding the team, perhaps a wholesale teardown is the direction that Minnesota should go, and given their veteran quarterback's ceiling, the Heisman favorite in Williams could be an option for the Vikings should their 2023 continue to spiral.
