The USC Trojans entered the 2023 season with high expectations coming from all over the place. After almost reaching the College Football Playoff last season, many saw them as a prime candidate to get there this year.

However, the Trojans stumbled through the season and finished the year with a disappointing 7-5 record. Not only did USC not make the playoff, but they will be playing in a lower-tier bowl outside of the New Year’s Six games.

They were selected for the Holiday Bowl and will take on the Louisville Cardinals. The game will take place on December 27th at 5 p.m. PT and it will air on Fox.

The two teams will play in San Diego, California from Petco Park, giving the Trojans more of a home-field advantage. Streaming options for the contest include Fubo TV and YouTube TV for fans.

"This will be the Trojans' fourth appearance in the Holiday Bowl in the last ten seasons. They have a record of 1-2 in the previous three games, with their lone win coming in 2014 against Nebraska."

Per Jon Hoefling of USA Today

Louisville finished their season with a record of 10-3 and are coming off a close loss to Florida State in the ACC Championship game. It was the first 10-win season for the Cardinals since 2013, so it was a little odd that they got picked to play against USC.

USC will be playing this game without star quarterback Caleb Williams after he opted to skip the game with the likelihood of his NFL preparation coming up. They may look a little different than fans remember, but USC has plenty of talent to come away with the win.

Their defense will need to step up in this one without Williams leading the offense, but they could have some trouble with the passing attack of Louisville. The defense was a real problem all season long, but the Trojans are hopeful to fix their issues this summer.
