USC Football: Lincoln Riley Excited For Loaded Class At This Position

This could fix a major issue.

Ranked as the 105th-best offensive line in the nation across their disappointing 2023 season, the Trojans have sought reinforcement in the trenches.

Lincoln Riley's commitment to improving the offensive line has been noted, as the program has brought in 10 high school signees over the last two cycles, which is especially key given the loss of pieces to the transfer portal, including tackle Michael Tarquin and interior offensive lineman Andrew Mliek.

As it pertains to who they've added, USC is welcoming 5 new linemen: Makai Saina, Kalolo Ta'aga, Justin Tauanuu, Hayden Treter, and Jason Zandamela. With all 5 being freshmen, it'll be hard to imagine a scenario where they get a ton of playing time, but Riley has been able to develop offensive players well, so they're all names to keep an eye out for in the next couple of seasons.

The quarterback situation remains a major question mark for the Trojans, as the presumptive loss of Caleb Williams leaves a major void at the most important position on the field.

Without a top-tier signal-caller, however, the need for a solid offensive line becomes that much more important. Williams also possessed world-class speed and scrambling ability, ensuring that his replacement would navigate the pocket worse, being more susceptible to sacks and throw-aways.
