USC Football Makes Weird Change To Practice Facility

USC's practice field is undergoing some changes.

The flower bushes that previously existed no longer do, and instead, there's a long chain fence that surrounds the "entire perimeter" of the field.

While this seems out of nowhere, this is actually the first step in major construction that the athletic department will be undergoing, as USC has a "strategic vision to transform its athletic facilities."

Specifically, school President Carol Folt outlined this plan:

"USC football will receive a new performance center, which will include three levels dedicated to team operations as well as a rooftop hospitality deck and player lounge. USC Athletics is also adding a second full-length practice field, which players will access directly from the performance center."

This will be a revolutionary addition to the program, as it almost sounds like a player hotel. When it comes to recruiting and maintaining a low attrition rate to the transfer portal, making the players as comfortable as possible is a priority.

The transformation should also improve performance, as "the new complex will feature student-athlete-centric spaces, including a new locker room, multiple player lounges, a recovery hub, nutritional support, sports sciences services, a weight room, a training room and an equipment room."

Adding/improving major features that are staples of high-end programs' athletic departments is key to keep USC on par with top programs, especially as the Trojans enter the Big 10.
