USC Football: New Defensive Coordinator D'Anton Lynn Spotted on Campus For Holiday Bowl Practice

Can things be turned around by the Louisville game?

Big moment for the Trojans: new defensive coordinator D'Anton Lynn has been spotted on campus for Holiday Bowl practice.

The former Bruins DC is a major upgrade at a position where answers have seemingly been non-existent for a decade-plus, as in his sole year with UCLA, he commandeered the nation's 2nd-best run defense.

The 34-year-old has a bright future in coaching, as he's one of the youngest Power Four (formerly Power Five) coordinators, and is now being tasked with the turnaround job of one of the nation's worst units this past season.

The Holiday Bowl should act as a decent preview of what Lynn is capable of, as while he won't have anyone that he'll end up grabbing in the transfer portal (nor will he have an offseason to develop the personnel), he'll have nearly 3 weeks to game plan for a 44th-ranked Louisville offense.

USC may not have conquered the Pac-12 as everyone had hoped for, but they can blast off into the Big Ten by winning the Holiday Bowl under the leadership of Lynn. The Trojans will certainly be a much better team moving forward, especially if the defensive output can match the offensive prowess.
