In this story:

For the USC Trojans this season, the mission is simple. It’s a title or bust season for USC for the first time in a while.

Their time to take advantage of things is now, as this will be the final year with reigning Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams in the mix. He will leave for the NFL after this season, so the Trojans need to do whatever they can to win now.

The team brings back a high-powered offense and an improved defense from last season. They have all the makings of a team that could reach the College Football Playoff.

It won’t be easy, but the Trojans want it no other way. They know they have their work cut out for them, as they have targets on their backs.

USC is being picked to win the Pac-12 conference by many and is a favorite to possibly win the National Championship as well. You don’t get those expectations put on you as a program without others coming for your head.

With the season starting soon, predictions have been flying all over the place. Recently, Pro Football Focus put out their predictions for the Conference Championships. They had USC pulling out of the Pac-12 over the Washington Huskies.

If this were to happen, it would likely mean that the Trojans would be in a strong position to make the playoff. Then the crapshoot begins.

The Trojans have lofty expectations for themselves, and it starts with winning their conference. Beating a solid team like Washington would only enhance their resume in the eyes of the playoff committee. It would also mean that they would take down the Huskies twice, as they play them at home earlier in the year.

This team has all the tools to go win it all. They have the best quarterback in the country and one of the best head coaches in Lincoln Riley. Now it’s time to put up or shut up as the season gets going.
