In this story:

Injuries have plagued the NFL today, as many players went down through the course of Sunday's action. Some have been more significant than others, like Chargers Joey Bosa, who was visibly upset when he went down with an apparent knee injury.

The same can be said for former USC Trojan Talanoa Hufanga, who currently plays for the San Francisco 49ers. Hufanga has been playing at a high caliber ever since he entered the league in 2021.

During today's game between the Niners and Buccaneers, Hufanga left the game during the 3rd quarter, after he suffered a non-contact injury. During the play, Baker Mayfield dumped a pass off to Rachaad White, who made a move when Hufanga was coming down on him. The move from White led to Hufanga biting on the inside fake leading what appears to be a season-ending injury.

Adam Schefter first reported that Niners head coach Kyle Shanahan revealed that the belief is Hufanga tore his ACL, though more tests will be done to determine the extent of the injury.

After Hufanga went down, he was sent to the blue medical tent, and eventually had to be carted to the locker room.

This is terrible news for Talanoa Hufanga, who was having another Pro Bowl-level year. He already logged 3 INT and 3 passes defended.

While playing for USC, Hufanga logged 203 tackles, 6.5 sacks, 8 deflections, 4 interceptions, and 4 forced fumbles in his career.

The Niners will certainly be missing Hufanga, who was part of an epic defense that has led to the team having a hot 7-3 start.

We certainly wish him a speedy recovery and hope that if it is a torn ACL, there is no further structural damage.
