USC Football: Star Safety Posts Cryptic Message About Return

Good news for a team that really needs some.

After USC Trojans defensive end Jamil Muhammad announced that he'll be returning next season, All-Conference safety Calen Bullock tweeted an interview excerpt that suggests the game.

The above clip features Marcus Peters, an NFL cornerback. In the clip, Peters repeatedly remarks that "we ain't done yet," implying that, in this case, Bullock's time at the university may continue.

The 6-foot-3, 190-pound Pasadena native has been a big part of the Trojans' defense since his freshman campaign, where he started 6 of 12 games.

Since then, he's been the full-time starter for two seasons, recording an All-Pac-12 team nod in 2022.

For Bullock, his size is an issue, and spending an extra year in college and getting better should prove greatly advantageous when it comes to his long-term career prospects. His size has been an issue when it comes to tackling bigger players, which he'd have to do consistently in the NFL.

In spite of that, however, Bullock's athleticism and instincts have netted him a top-2 safety grade by some draft sites. As such, he carries upside to be drafted as high as the early second round, which would make for an easy case to enter the draft after this season.

We'll see what Bullock ends up doing, but the rationale for him to declare for the draft is certainly there, as returning would only marginally improve his draft stock, if not worsen it due to a potential injury or regression.
