USC Football: Tahj Washington Hit Huge Receiving Metric In Holiday Bowl

The Trojans redshirt senior capped off his 2023 season in a huge way.

USC star redshirt wide receiver Tahj Washington was spectacular in the 2023 season finale. Washington looked as good as he did all season long in the Holiday Bowl, as the Trojans finished with the win over the Louisville Cardinals with a 42-28 final score.

Washington played a significant role in the victory, snagging seven receptions for 99 yards and two touchdowns. He was the most experienced pass catcher for the Trojans on Wednesday night, and those 99 yards helped him eclipse a mark he had not reached in his college career.

The speedy wide receiver eclipsed 1,000 receiving yard season for the first time in his college career on Wednesday night. USC head coach Lincoln Riley spoke to team insider from the OC Register Luca Evans and said there was no chance Washington would miss the Holiday Bowl.

Lincoln Riley on Tahj Washington, who hit 1,000 yards tonight and could’ve very easily skipped the Holiday Bowl: “Anybody that knows Tahj knew there was a 0% chance that he was going to sit out of this game.”

Washington ended the 2023 season with 1,062 yards, 59 receptions, eight touchdowns, and an average of 18 yards per catch.

All those numbers are career highs for the redshirt senior, as his previous career high was 785 yards, which came in 2022. We're not sure if this is the last we will see of Washington, but if it is, we thank him for three great seasons in the cardinal red and gold. We wish him the best in whatever he decides to do next (hopefully, he will be back).
