USC football transfer portal tracker: Who have the Trojans added?

On Dec. 5, a 45-day period for college football players to enter the transfer portal started and USC has been quick to secure reinforcements ahead of the 2023 season.
Another window will open from April 15-30.

USC TRANSFER ADDITIONS (alphabetical order)
DL Kyon Barrs - Arizona
Class in 2023: Senior - one year of eligibility remaining
2022 stats: 12 starts, made 39 tackles (18 solo, 21 assists), 4.5 tackles for loss
The skinny: Barrs had a breakout 2021 earning All-Pac 12 second team honors at Arizona and he put together another strong year in 2022. The rising senior should play a significant number of snaps for USC in 2023 alongside interior defensive linemen Tyrone Taleni, Stanley Ta’ufo’ou and De’jon Benton. Expect true freshmen Sam Greene and Deijon Laffitte to also get a chance on the interior.
LB Mason Cobb - Oklahoma State
Class in 2023: Senior - two years of eligibility remaining
2022 stats: 13 starts, made a team-high 96 tackles (58 solo, 38 assists), 13 tackles for loss, two sacks, an interception and a forced fumble
The skinny: Cobb is ranked as the No. 3 transfer linebacker in the nation by 247Sports.com. He was named a second team All-Big 12 selection in 2022. USC struggled at the linebacker spot last season, so expect Cobb to factor in for playing time right away. Pro Football Focus gave Cobb a 64.1 grade for defense last year at Oklahoma State. USC's two starting linebackers, Eric Gentry and Shane Lee, earned defensive grades of 55.2 and 55.4 respectively. Both return in 2023, but will now face more competition.
An area of concern for USC's defense a year ago was missed tackling. Cobb missed 27 tackles a year ago, per PFF. Gentry and Lee combined to miss 31 tackles.
P Eddie Czaplicki - Arizona State
Class in 2023: Junior - two years of eligibility remaining
2022 stats: 50 punts averaging 46 yards per punt with a long of 75 yards
The skinny: Czaplicki was named an All-Pac-12 first team selection in 2022. He should slot in as the Trojans' starting punter.
OL Jarrett Kingston - Washington State
Class in 2023: Redshirt Senior - one year of eligibility remaining
2022 stats: Made nine starts, played 398 snaps at left tackle and did not allow a sack
The skinny: Kingston can play left guard or left tackle. The way USC's offensive line currently projects out, expect him to start at left tackle in the fall. Kingston was a three-year starter for the Cougars who earned a spot on the All-Pac 12 team as an honorable mention selection this past season.
RB MarShawn Lloyd - South Carolina
Year in 2023: Redshirt Junior - two years of eligibility remaining
2022 stats: Played in nine games with eight starts, rushed for 573 yards and nine touchdowns, caught 18 passes for 176 yards and two touchdowns.
The skinny: Lloyd is the No. 1 running back in the 247Sports Transfer Rankings and a former top 100 recruit in the 2020 recruiting cycle. He will factor in at running back alongside Raleek Brown and Austin Jones. In 2020, Lloyd missed the entire season with a torn ACL. He's great as a pass blocker who will have a chance to be a game-breaker for the Trojans.
DL Anthony Lucas - Texas A&M
Year in 2023: Sophomore
2022 stats: Played in seven games, made 10 tackles (four solo, six assists), one tackle for loss
The skinny: Lucas was a 5-star prospect in the Class of 2022. He has the size (6-foot-6, 270 pounds) and ability to play a number of different positions. It's a lofty, lofty ceiling, but Lucas has the potential to replace Tuli Tuipulotu as a versatile edge defender for the Trojans.
LB Jamil Muhammad - Georgia State
Year in 2023: Redshirt Senior - two years of eligibility remaining
2022 stats: Played in 12 games with nine starts, made 44 tackles (20 solo, 24 assists), five tackles for a loss, 1.5 sacks and an interception
The skinny: Muhammad plays outside linebacker, but he may factor in as an edge defender for the Trojans. His 72.4 PFF defensive grade is the highest of any returning USC linebackers or linebacker transfer additions. Expect Muhammad to break into USC's defensive rotation.
Muhammad played quarterback in high school.
CB Christian Roland-Wallace - University of Arizona
Year in 2023: Redshirt Senior - one year of eligibility remaining
2022 stats: Started 12 games, made 57 total tackles (41 solo, 16 assists) with six pass breakups and one forced fumble
The skinny: Roland-Wallace has started 29 games in his four years at Arizona. He'll bring a ton of experience to the Trojans' defensive backfield. The USC cornerback room will be very crowded in 2023 so Roland-Wallace will earn any playing time he gets. USC's top corner, Mekhi Blackmon, exhausted his collegiate eligibility and will most likely get picked in the 2023 NFL Draft. The best-case scenario for Roland-Wallace is replacing Blackmon as USC's CB1.
WR Dorian Singer - Arizona
Year in 2023: Junior - 2 years of eligibility remaining
2022 stats: Played in 12 games with 11 starts, made 66 catches for 1,105 yards and six touchdowns
The skinny: Singer looks like he could be next season's Jordan Addison — a third-year receiver who had a tremendous sophomore season before joining the Trojans. Singer and Addison have similar body types and even though the USC wide receiver room will be one of the best in the nation, Singer should factor in in a major way. Brenden Rice, Kyron Hudson, Mario Williams, Tahj Washington, Michael Jackson III and true freshmen Zachariah Branch and Makai Lemon will all fight for playing time alongside Singer next season.
Against USC this past year, Singer caught seven passes for 141 yards and three touchdowns in a 45-37 loss.
DL Jack Sullivan - Purdue
Year in 2023: Graduate Student - one year of eligibility remaining
2022 stats: Started 14 games, made 38 tackles (24 solo, 14 assists) with seven coming for loss, 5.5 sacks and a forced fumble
The skinny: With unanimous All-American Tuli Tuipulotu entering the NFL Draft, USC has an obvious need at the defensive end position. While Tuipulotu played in more spots on defense than Sullivan did at Purdue a year ago — outside of one defensive snap, Sullivan exclusively played on the defensive line — his addition will be a definite boost to the Trojans' defense. Sullivan will most likely compete with Korey Foreman, Solomon Tuliaupupu, Romello Height, Solomon Byrd, Anthony Lucas and Devan Thompkins for playing time at defensive end. In the last four seasons, Sullivan has played in every game for Purdue. He has a track record of staying healthy.
OL Michael Tarquin - Florida
Year in 2023: Redshirt Junior - two years of eligibility remaining
2022 stats: Played in nine games with eight starts at right tackle
The skinny: It looks like Tarquin will slide in as USC's right tackle with Jonah Monheim moving over to right guard in 2023. Tarquin received a 72.5 PFF grade for offense in 2022. USC had four offensive linemen with higher grades last season, including Monheim who ended the year with an 82. This past year, Tarquin did not allow a sack or a hit on the quarterback in 164 pass-block snaps.
OL Ethan White - Florida
Year in 2023: Senior - one year of eligibility remaining
2022 stats: Started 13 games at left guard
The skinny: White did not allow a sack in 377 pass block snaps last year. He was named an All-SEC second team pick for his efforts. Expect White to slot in as USC's starting left guard this fall.
