USC Plunges in AP Poll After Crushing Defeat to Notre Dame

USC drops eight spots heading into Week 8

When it rains, it pours, Trojan fans. Although it was expected to rain in South Bend, Indiana, last night, the only thing that came pouring down was USC's championship hopes and dreams.

After suffering their most embarrassing loss of the season, your Trojans drop eight spots in the latest AP Poll, right at number 18 heading into Week 8.

The Trojan offense, notably Caleb Williams, played the worst game of his collegiate career, recording a career-high three interceptions.

His poor play played a huge part in the blowout loss to the Fighting Irish as they dug themselves in a big hole in the first half. Williams went 23-for-37, threw for 199 yards, and only one touchdown. Although the Trojans had more total yards, with 302 compared to Notre Dame's 251, the five turnovers were really the difference in the game, as the offense left the defense in tough spots on the field.

Everything but the turnovers were in USC's favor, and they couldn't overcome it throughout the night.

It was a performance to forget, and now USC would need a miracle to come back and get to where they want to go in the season. We'll see how they respond in another tough test against the Utah Utes next week.
