USC football: 4-star defensive lineman includes Trojans in top 6, calls USC 'perfect'

Kenwood Academy (Chicago) defensive lineman Marquise Lightfoot will visit USC this weekend

Four-star Kenwood Academy (Chicago) defensive lineman Marquise Lightfoot released his top six schools earlier this week and included USC. His other five finalists are Ohio State, Georgia, Alabama, Miami and Illinois.

Lightfoot will officially visit USC this weekend. Currently, the Trojans are trailing Ohio State in the recruitment — 247Sports.com's Steve Wiltfong has a crystal ball prediction in for the Buckeyes — but Lightfoot is still very high on USC, according to 247Sports.com's Allen Trieu

It was said that Lightfoot "loves" USC. They have been trending up with him. Defensive line coach Shaun Nua has done a great job recruiting him and then other staff members like Donte Williams and Lincoln Riley have also forged a connection. USC is a program he can see himself at. Distance is greater than it is at some of the other schools on the list, but everything else about USC is "perfect."

That's high praise.

Lightfoot is rated as the No. 67 prospect nationally and the No. 6 edge rusher in the 247Sports composite. He's already visited Ohio State and has a trip planned to Miami after his USC official.

USC currently has two top 100 defensive prospects committed in their 2024 recruiting class, which is one more than the Trojans signed last cycle. Four-star Serra (Gardena, Calif.) cornerback Dakoda Fields and four-star Booker T. Washington (Atlanta) edge Kameryn Fountain both pledged to USC last week.

In total, the Trojans have nine committed players in their 2024 class. The group ranks No. 19 nationally, according to 247Sports.com.
